eastlondonworks.com is run by Community Works for Health Team for Barts and the London NHS Trust to reduce unemployment in East London.
This site is one of many ways we are developing solutions to help local people get local jobs, especially those with a poor health history, disability or a long term condition.
As well as the website we also work with employment brokers such as Ingeus, Job Centre Plus and Skillsmatch. They help to place residents in local jobs and run employment training programmes, funded by Barts and the London NHS Trust
We aim to:
Why is Barts and the London NHS Trust concerned about getting people to work?
It’s probably hard to believe but having a job can really be good for your health.
According to studies such as the Boorman Review and Dame Carol Black’s 'Working for a Healthier Tomorrow'; research shows that people who work feel more valued, enjoy better physical and mental health, have higher levels of confidence leading to better lifestyles.
